Machismo in Today's World

This kind of goes back to the double standards of men being able to do as they please while women have to worry about the constant perception of them by the whole world.

Men still hold the highest ranking jobs and men are still earning more than their female counterparts.  I read somewhere that this was because females take more time off from their jobs for childbearing which then causes males to obviously advance in their careers and women to stay behind.  While I do understand this philosophy, it's not all because of this.  It goes back to the years of discrimination AND the fact that today's society is still very much male dominated.

Women are afraid to go into a career that is mostly male dominated because they are afraid to face the discrimination and judgment.  I have personally worked in a mosty male work force.  I have to say that even though it is not openly apparent, men do have notions of  how they expect that female to behave.  For instance, they want her to look prim, proper & businesslike but not too sexy.  I get it, don't dress provocatively.

Hello!!  What is provocative?  A nicely fitted blouse & pencil skirt with heels?  Isn't this what proper business attire would be?  She can't exactly wear loose fitted clothing because it doesn't look professional so how does she dress??  It's a no win situation.  It's sort of like the woman who supposedly got fired for being too sexy.  lol  While some of her outfits show a bit too much, some other outfits are perfectly fine work attire.

Regardless, we are doomed with being female: periods, mood swings, pregnancy, child bearing, forever changed bodies & unrealistic expectations of beauty, perfect bodies, & natural domestic tendencies.  Ha!  Men need to live in our shoes for one day...literally!
