October and breast cancer awareness

As many of you probably already know, October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. And I'm sure there are plenty of women like me who have been putting off going to get a women's health checkup.

For the longest time I had been putting off going to the doctor and finally I decided enough was enough. I turned twenty-eight years old this year in September and I had not once been to have an actual women's health check up. I know I'm horrible. For some reason or another, I was deathly afraid to get checked out. I didn't want some creepy doc checking out my naughty bits and worse what if they actually found something wrong with me???

I decided to have a woman be my doc because I knew I'd be uncomfortable with a male doc. And you know what, after it was said and done with it wasn't that bad. Because I had the full Monty of an exam they checked both for breast health and cervical health. I won't lie to you by saying that the latter was particularly enjoyable, but it wasn't as horrific as I thought it would be. As for the actual breast exam, that was actually quite painless and takes relatively no time and because I'm only twenty-eight I don't quite need a mammogram just yet.

Seriously though ladies, I encourage you to get over your fears if you are like me. Make that appointment and make sure you are "code 4." It's better to catch this stuff early than to wait until its far to late to anything about it. And remember you only have to do it once a year. ;)

Dear Friend...

This post is a little personal so here it goes:

Dear Friend,

October is Bully Awareness Month & you shouldn't be the first person we think about when we hear those three words together. We (your family & friends) are all worried about you & want you to know we are here FOR YOU not against you. We want to see you happy ALWAYS & you currently are not.

We know you have your reasons for not talking to us through this ordeal & even though we may not understand them, we hope you will have the trust & confidence to do so. We promise to be all ears & support; no judgments or smart remarks.

However, if you don't want to talk about it, we hope you will talk to us about something, anything at all!  We just want to hear from you.  So, hopefully we'll talk to you soon!

Much love,

Your Friends

Best Cookware Set So Far

I don't normally post reviews on products I own but I just had to brag about this Better Homes & Gardens Cookware set. The riveted, waffle-like bottoms and handles are amazing. They cook so nicely & clean even better! I got them for Mother's Day & just started using them about a week ago. I've got to say that at $69 for the set, they are a steal! I highly recommend them to anyone looking for quality pots & pans at a low price.

I know this is only contributing to her 15 minutes of fame but here it is anyway.  What do you think of this girl wanting to post this racy senior pic?
