What I should have done...

Yesterday in my forensic science class our group paper was due. Me and three other girls had worked on this paper together; it was about the book Judgment Ridge: The True Story Behind the Dartmouth Murders. Anyway, I wouldn't say the book was a great read but the case was. It's a pretty messed up case about two stupid teenage boys murdering two professors in their own home just to end up stealing 300 or so dollars. Can you say fucked up? Geez.

Anyway, so for this paper each one of us had a section to write about. One worked on a summary about the book, the other one work about the forensic evidence (me), another wrote about forensic technologies, and lastly one wrote about the case and verdict. We were to send all of our parts to the leader of the group so that she could put everything together cohesively and so it would sound like one person wrote it.

I had asked to send me the paper after she had finished putting the pieces together so that I could go over it for a proofread. Do you know what she ended up doing? She just stuck them all together without changing anything. I just rolled my eyes and took it upon myself to make the paper flow better. I ended up sending her the paper back with a ton of comments. I didn't change them myself on the paper so that she could see what I was talking about. And so that she could get a better idea as to why I said to change the shit that needed changing.

Anyway, she sent back the paper with most of the changes done, but for some reason or another she didn't change a few of the grammatical errors that I had highlighted. I was like, "WTH? Those were easy to change and you can obviously see that the wrong form of there is being used." I end up going through the paper again and I find a few more errors; grammatical and format wise, which I highlighted and sent back a second time. I think by this point she was becoming irritated by the fact that I kept trying to correct her editing because she sent out what she called the "final copy" and said that she was going to print this one out and take it to class. I'm sure you can all guess by now that she didn't chance the shit that I suggested she change.

I was seriously pissed. What the hell, man! This paper is supposed to be a group paper where we all get the same fucking grade and I don't want to be docked points for stupid grammatical errors.

I ended up printing out a copy of the paper with the errors fixed and was intent on turning in the paper I had printed out. But she had gotten to class earlier than I had and had already turned in the stupid ass paper. I was freaken livid. I asked in class if she had fixed the errors and she went into some rant about, "Oh ya, I changed a few things." I was like, "Was the paper you turned the last copy you sent as an email." And of course she said yes.

I wanted to go up to the professor and take back the other paper she had turned in and turned in the one I had fixed. I mean seriously in the one that she turned in she misspelled Dartmouth, left in phrases that I told her made no sense in the paper, still refused to change there to their, and the last two paragraphs of the paper made no fucken sense whatsoever! Oh and she didn't state references for some of the facts given in the last paragraph, so if the professor wants to be a real stickler he can get us on plagiarism. How awesome is that!?!

I should have stood up for my grade, but right I just want to get the paper back and say, "See I told you, fucktard!" Ugh. I hate working in groups sometimes.

Have you guys ever had a situation like this? Let me know in the comments. Sorry for the long-winded rant which I'm sure probably has grammatical errors in and of itself too. But at least I'm willing to change them!!! >:[

Bingo, Yahtzee!

The Sheriff of Pima county is totally right about SB1070. Check out what he had to say in his video... it's kinda hard to hear what the questions are that are being asked though, so use earphones.

Ha, you guys have to see this!

I'm glad they are able to unwind and have some fun. :)

The Lovely Bones

The story takes place in the 1970's.  It starts like any other typical movie until the main character, a dead girl, starts telling you the story.  She gives you insight to her family, how she died, the events leading up to her death, and a bit of background about her killer.  This movie is sad!  It won't make you cry but it is a thought provoking one.  My husband liked it.  He said, "it was fucked up but at least he [the killer] got what he deserved."  I want to read the book!

April 28-Plane crashes

Did you know that on this day in 1988,  Near Maui, Hawaii, a flight attendant was sucked out of Aloha Flight 243, a Boeing 737, and fell to her death when an upper part of the plane's cabin area riped off in mid-flight??  Wouldn't this suck?!!!!  The cause of the accident was metal fatigue.

Well, in the news this morning, there's an article regarding a plane accident this past Monday where 2 were killed.  Nobody yet knows what caused the plane to go down but it is being investigated.  My opinion: the 2 people were probably arguing & 1 person decided to kill the other causing them both to die!  I'm so negative but what else...why didn't they jump out?  No parachutes??

Strange!

Did you feel that?

BOOBQUAKE!

So today just so happens to be boobquake and you may be asking yourself, "What the hell is boobquake???" Well, boobquake was begun by a Purdue University student, Jen McCreight, to disprove an "Iranian cleric's assertion that scantily clad women cause earthquakes."

Ya, some douche blames earthquakes on the fact that women don't dress "modestly" enough. Wow, how thoroughly scientific! LOL. So according to this guy the fact that women don't dress "appropriately" is indicative in spreading promiscuity in society thus increasing earthquakes.

And because of this ridiculous statement, McCreight started Boobquake in an effort to disprove the statement. It all started on her blog "Blag Hag" and then of course there's the facebook event where more than 100,000 signed up to participate.

"Prove the cleric wrong with "Boobquake"- a day when as many women as possible show their cleavage, dress scantily, and hope no earthquakes occur."

I think this was a funny and brilliant experiment! I don't know about you guys but my "cleavage" is always showing… It's just thoroughly impossible to completely cover up these puppies and I'm not going to just because some a-hole thinks they cause earthquakes when we all freaken know they don't. BOOBS ARE NATURAL SO STOP TRYING TO OPPRESS MY BOOBS!!! :P

Mascara!

Do you use mascara?  If so, how often?  Which one is your favorite?  I've really enjoyed the Mary Kary mascara but after trying my sister's, I was left in awe.  It has almost zero clumps & lots of volume...oh yeah!  Unfortunately, I didn't get the name of it but I'll have to ask her b/c it makes my mascara look like crap!  I'll update on the name as soon as I get it.  :)

5/5/10 UPDATE: I finally got the name!  It's Maybelline's The Colossal Volum' Express™ Waterproof Mascara & about $6!

SB 1070

Jan Brewer told everyone she wanted to make it clear that she was against illegal immigration & against racial profiling. Her signature on the bill doesn't seem to fit her statement.

"The bill, known as SB 1070, makes it a misdemeanor to lack proper immigration paperwork in Arizona. It also requires police officers, if they form a "reasonable suspicion" that someone is an illegal immigrant, to determine the person's immigration status."

So how is this against racial profiling?  If a police officer is allowed to ask for proof of immigration upon reasonable suspicion, & everyone who fails to provide proof will be commiting a misdemeanor?  What exactly is reasonable suspicion??  What is it based on?

In my opinion, if you look "white" and speak perfect English, you will probably not be asked to provide proof because there is no reasonable suspicion there.  So, therefore, it will target all people who look of hispanic decent & don't speak proper English.  What does that tell you?

Also, don't forget to carry your wallet at all times b/c you will be commiting a misdemeanor!!

A.K.A.

Avatar

This movie was interesting!  I can't say it was the best movie ever but it is worth watching.  It has great visual effects and an interesting possible future.  However, there have been many "future" movies that this movie is just one in the bunch.

This movie is centered in the future with a similar double world such as in Matrix.  The main character is a Marine who is sent to do this "study" because he shares the same DNA with his deceased brother.  He has no training in the 2nd world (Pandora) & is the first military "scientist" to do this.  At first, the scientists make fun of him but accept him after one of the tribal leaders of Pandora decides to spare his life & teach him all there is to learn in their world.  Pandora is full of living things, everything around them is respected & loved because they are a part of who they are.  All living creatures are joined together by their goddess Aywa so when one of the creatures is killed/dies, they all suffer.  Things go sour when the main character starts preferring Pandora over his human world and when Pandora is threatened he has to make the choice between both worlds.

All nature lovers (aka hippies) will enjoy this movie!

This Matter of Marriage by Debbie McCombers

I can honestly say I had a hard time coming up with something to write!  I never thought it'd be that hard.  I think the problem is that I'm trying to think of a post that goes with the feel of our blog.  We need a set of topics to write from so that we can have an easier time with this.  Anyway,  I'm adding a reading category.  :)  We all love to read so I figured why not?

My blog today is a review of a book I absolutely love!  This Matter of Marriage by Debbie McCombers.  The book is about this woman who has been so disappointed by the dating world that she decides, after many friend suggestions, to try internet dating.  She meets a few guys but none seem to be what she's looking for.  Then one day she discovers that she really likes her neighbor and things get interesting from there.  Truly a must read!  You won't want to put the book down!

SPF Favorites

On my Sunscreen Fun Fact from yesterday, I wrote about not being able to find a moisturizer with a high enough SPF.  Check out the Banana Boat Sunscreen I was referring to.  I have the larger bottle with the small carry on that detaches but it's probably been discontinued.  It's so handy though!  Oh well!  I was so excited that they have a new one out with SPF 80 Lotion!!

What's your favorite SPF protection?  Attach a link!

Until next time,

P.S.  Does anyone know of a hair SPF Spray?  I'd love to try one!

It's Spring Time!

So, it's Spring time! And I felt it was time to get me a new blush... lol. Apparently this "season" corals are gonna be the big "in" and well I just happen to have stopped by our new Sephora in town and got me a lovely new coral blush.

I have seriously wanted this blush for a long time now, but well $28 bucks for a blush was/is a little pricey. Against my wallets better judgment, however, I ended up buying Benefit's Coralista blush anyway.

You guys will not believe how wonderful it smells! It has this lovely citrus-y kind of smell, I swear I sniff it every single time I go to put it on. And not only does it smell wonderful it makes your cheeks glow! It's a gorgeous pinky coral color which I think would look great on any skin tone.

Anyway, if you guys are ever at the mall stop in at Sephora and take a sniff at the blush, trust me it smells great.

Sunscreen

Did you know...that you're tecnically supposed to wear sunscreen every day?!

Even during the Winter months, the rays are still harmful to your skin.  Still, many people don't use sunscreen at all during these months.

So, when do you wear sunscreen & on what parts of your body?

Change starts now my friends!
