1. A study done on mice suggests that by reactivating an enzyme called Telomerase can actually reverse premature ageing. For example, scientists engineered some mice that lacked the enzyme and those mice became prematurely decrepit but when the enzyme was replaced they bounced back to health. So of course there is some great intrigue in this new found study. Can you say fountain of youth?
Ah, but wait there's always a catch. While some scientist believe that there is a possibility that this processes can be used in humans, others believe that ramping up telomerase in humans can potentially cause the growth of tumors i.e. cancer.I've only given you the gist of the article but if you want to read the whole thing check it out here:
Teleomerase reverses ageing process
2. So, this second article I read had already heard about a while ago when I was listening to NPR. This particular article touches upon the fact that there are websites out there that have been harvesting lists of sites that their users have previously visited online. According to the article it keeps track of every site that you've visited and complies a thorough profile on its users. Oh, and when I mean it keeps track of every site I mean every freaken site. It keeps track of news articles you may have read, where you do your online banking, even to the kind of kinky ass porn that some you all may look at.
I'm sure you guys have noticed how the the ads on some of the sites you go on magically know what kind of stuff to advertise to you. Like for me, usually when I'm a site that has ads the ads are almost always for makeup, Harry Potter stuff, and Zynga games. Ironic? Hell nah, I'm sure there's some profile out there on me somewhere.Sure, this kind of online tracking can help advisers promote products that you'd be interested in, but come on this is getting a little freaken creepy. When ads start following you from site to site it's a bit off putting.
On another note what does it really matter that these sites have this schmuck's web browsing history? The most they get our of me is that I spend half my time on Youtube and the rest playing freaken Farmville or Frontierville. Oh what a life! But think about people who actually "matter" ... e.g. politicians, movie stars, athletes. Imagine if all the shit they looked at got out??? Dun dun dun! LOL. Crazy times!
Next time you guys are on a site that runs ads look at them. Are they targeted towards you specifically? Kinda creepy right? Oh, and you if you don't want to take part in these websites reindeer games I suggest you download the latest version of Google Chrome or Safari. According to the article they have automatic protections for this kind of snooping. Good thing I had transfered over to Chrome a long time ago.

I knew about both of these but the site ad thing has been going on for years now...people just didn't pay too much attention.
Also, the fountain of youth thing is one of those...can't think of the words at the moment...mixed feelings/good vs. bad at the same time. It's going to bug me that I can't think of it darn it!!
BITTERSWEET! lol That's the word I was looking for. lol
