- 1 lb. Fresh Green Beans, ends pinched off. Use either the whole green bean, or snap in 1/2.
- 1/2 cup to 1 cup diced onion
- 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon dried red pepper flakes
- Salt
- 2-3 strips of bacon
Fry the bacon, and reserve a tablespoon of grease to quickly stir fry (on high) the above ingredients. Do not overcook beans. They should be crisp.
You can also toss all the ingredients except bacon in a large pot, and boil for about 5 minutes, and drain the mixture. Don't use a colander with very large holes. You'll lose all the goodies. (If you use this method, fry the bacon, and set aside) Add bacon after.

I think I may have to try this. I mean green bean casserole last year but my mom and I were the only ones who ate it. We had a ton of left overs. :/
Well, I went a little overboard on the crushed red peppers but it was soo good! lol
So, definitely only put a bit in there if kids or other special eaters are eating it.
It sucks about your green bean casserole! Are they all just picky eaters?
Ya, sometimes they are picky eaters. I guess when it comes to veggies they are because most of the time you could just feed them rocks with honey on them and I'm pretty sure they'd eat them.
I tried your recipe out this year they were good but I went way way overboard with the crushed pepper. Hahaha, everyone was like holy hell those are spicy. I think I need to try to make them again without so much pepper. Oh well.
