This is something that I have always wanted to do, since F.O.R.E.V.E.R!! See I had a very, very, very big imagination when I was little. I always wanted to learn how to dance ballet....and I always wanted to learn how to dance Mexican folkoric dancing as well. I grew up and well let's face I probably won't learn to dance ballet.....especially not now. But I think I still have a chance at learning Mexican folkoric dancing.
I will say this, more than anything I LOVE the attire that they have to wear. I love the colors, fabric, flowers, everything about it. I also love cultures.....sooo I am adding a little culture to my blog! In commemoration of Hispanic heritage month and because I just totally felt super duper Mexican today, here you go. A video of the traditional dance of Nayarit, which is where my momma is from. I will also include a dance for Son de la negra, I really like that song for some reason :)
FYI.....those are real machetes that they use in the dance................now that's hardcore! Do NOT mess with the Cora indigenous people of Nayarit, they dance with machetes....for fun. j/k I love my culture, I love my mom's culture and I am so honored and glad that my mom has shared these things with me. Thanks mom!!
Son de la negra:
I do hope that you enjoy!

I love the dances...always have wanted to learn to do that too! It might not seem like it, but they require some skills. Being able to turn flip your dress just so & not get all dizzy & fall requires coordination.
Plus, that dress probably weighs a ton & is hot as heck! So, props to them cuz I'm sure I'll be dying the 1st time I try it. lol
I've always wanted to learn how to do this too. I'll have to ask my mum whether the dresses are heavy or not... she said she used to have one.
I remember when I was a little kid all of my older girl cousins learn how to dance this... it was like a sorta of right of passage thing that our family did... I never got to do it though. :(
UNFAIR! LOL. One day I'll learn to dance like that. :D We should teach ourselves!
That is unfair @criminologynerd! Why did we get the short end of the stick? I definitely think we were born in the wrong era!!! lol
I wish your mom still had the dress. It'd be so cool to see it. What did she do with it anyway?
Well, let us know what she says about the dress.
